In 1967, Kyudo was already shifted from the professional Budo by samurai to a hobby and an extracurricular activity in high school, university, and college for ordinary people.
Junji Miyata thought that FRP Kyudo bow would be suitable in the new Kyudo situation, since FRP bow could be used right after a sting was set to a bow, meanwhile Bamboo bow needed careful treatment which was difficult for beginners and several hours to be stable after a string was set to a bow.
After visiting England in1967, Junji Miyata returned to Japan and immediately began developing the FRP bow as a product for general Kyudo. He used FRP as Uchi-Take and To-Dake, and changed the core material from bamboo to elastic wood, to strengthen the ability of shooting speed and hitting accuracy meanwhile keeping the shape and basic characteristics of traditional bamboo bows.
Finally, he finished to develop the FRP bow as a product (current MIYATA type A). MIYATA FRP bow is light, and the bow is very elastic enough to realize high hitting accuracy with extremely less vibration when Kyudo archers shoot in the right way. The bow was painted Black, which is the most common color in the traditional Urushi - Nuriyumi (Japanese traditional Lacquer painting). Brand logo was "MY KYUGU", which came from Initial "M" meant MIYATA, and "Y", which meant Yijima, who was a friend of Junji Miyata in Urakami - Dojo, and the funder of MIYTA, co., limited. Later, brand logo changed MIYATA from MY KYUGU.
